It seems that a week doesn’t pass by when a major High Street Retailer is not in the press as it uses a Company Voluntary Arrangement as a way of closing stores in a bid to restructure and rescue the business.

Recently we have had Homebase, House of Fraser, Mothercare, Carpet Right, New Look, Jamie’s Italian, Prezzo, Byron Burgers and Carluccio all use the mechanism.

Landlords, in particular, are of the view that it treats them unfairly and it is possible that they will start to reject them.

What is your view?
