Small Healthcare Recruitment Company Time To Pay Deal Agreed with HMRC

Our latest case study for a payment plan with HMRC for a RMT KSA client.

The Client is a small healthcare recruitment agency run by a mother and daughter team. They provide care workers, support staff and registered nurses to some of the UK’s biggest care providers.

The Challenge?

In late 2024, the family suffered two bereavements and naturally, the directors’ attention was diverted. During this time, sales fell and cash became tight. With reduced sales the company was unable to pay it’s PAYE/NIC and VAT contributions – building up £68,000 in arrears.

With HMRC pressure building, they knew they needed help. After previously speaking to HMRC themselves, it was suggested by HMRC Enforcement officers that the company find some additional lending to pay off their liabilities to HMRC and support a time to pay (TTP) arrangement. The company did this, but between the loan and interest payments, increasing sales and the TTP contributions to HMRC cashflow dried up again. HMRC then failed the arrangement.

RMT KSA Stepped In

In March 2025, the director found our www.companyrescue.co.uk website and promptly contacted us. They told our helpful advisors about the issues with the HMRC debt and were glad to get some practical advice on the next steps.

We were appointed the next week and contact with HMRC was made to advise them that we had been engaged. We prepared detailed financial forecasts with information provided by the company, and we were able to calculate a level of repayment that would enable the company to repay HMRC over a longer period of time and still be able to pay their other expenses.

The Outcome

In a little over four weeks, we were able to negotiate with HMRC with the support of our financial forecasts to repay the £68,000 over 30 months with a small upfront payment. The company was also able to avoid any HMRC and debt collector enforcement action – the corporation tax liability had recently been sent over to a debt collection agency by HMRC Enforcement officers. So we did two time to pay deals!
